Florida Folk legends Ricky Wilcox and Stevie Grandmaison are possibly best known locally for playing for over a decade in the groundbreaking musical force that was Deloris Telescope. Back in the ‘golden era’ of Tampa Bay music scene, Deloris Telescope exploded into a local and regional phenomenon, playing an indescribable mix of original tunes that covered the gamut: funk/pop/power pop/metal/jangle/soul/folk/rock, becoming critical darlings, entertaining a loyal base of ‘Delorians’ for years, and influencing young artists to play their own music and be their own truest selves until this day…
Over his many (!) years of being a full-time professional musician, Ricky Wilcox has played in some of the country’s most iconic bands including Chicago’s D’Thumbs, national recording act Theatre, and Florida’s notorious Deloris Telescope, and has toured Japan, Germany, Canada and much of the USA. Ricky is a double Jammy Award winning drummer, and also a multiple Tampa Bay Music Awards winner as a member of DT, as co-writer/producer/and multi-instrumentalist, alongside fellow Deloris Telescope members Kacy Ross and Stevie Grandmaison. Ricky also appeared (briefly!) in the major motion picture The Punisher, starring John Travolta, and Ricky’s song “Insignificant” was featured for a year in a story arc on popular daytime drama All My Children.
Adding to an impressive discography dating back to 1980, including 10 releases with Deloris Telescope, Ricky has now released 4 solo rock/power pop/ Americana projects eponymously and as RW and the Moonsnakes, fronting and playing guitar for a collective that has featured some of the most prominent names in the Tampa Bay area over the band’s 15 year span. The Moonsnakes have been frequent visitors to Skippers, both as co headliners and also one of the most popular bands in WMNF’s tribute/fundraising show series. Ricky currently plays full time with The Moonsnakes, The Little Kings and as a solo act.
Stevie Grandmaison began his rock and roll career in Maine, and brought his popular band Limousine to Florida in the late 70’s and recorded several singles, then forming the popular Stevie and the Hotheads and signing with Jam Records out of Atlanta. Stevie also did stints as band leader with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes (“If You Don’t Know Me By Now”) touring The Caribbean, Hollywood Dave…In the early 80’s , Stevie was doing sound for fledgling upstarts Deloris Telescope, when the band found themselves needing a bass player. Filling in for a weekend, everything clicked, and as they say; the rest is history.
Post DT, Stevie lived in Toronto where he acted in many major motion pictures including X Men, American Psycho, Urban Legend 2, and the TV series Relic Hunter. After moving back to St. Petersburg, Stevie was the original bass player in The Moonsnakes, and is still actively performing as bass player for The Raiford Stark band, as well as solo gigs, and is specializing in film and documentary making.

"...former Deloris Telescope drummer and Soupy principal Ricky Wilcox finally brings his soulful power-pop ambitions to fruition via The Moonsnakes...Think about an intelligent mish-mash of Britpop, Americana, and early 80’s Athens smart jangle and you’re on your way. Evocative, poppy stuff." Weekly Planet
"More than anything else, these guys are songwriters. They know a melody and words and how to put it together. Hopefully budding songwriters will hear about this show and come out to see this reunion of the master-writers." Pete Gallagher, WMNF Radio.
